Got fed up with the bike going much better than it stops - riding the new Rocket showed me just how bad my Storm's brakes are.

The nice people at Mr Billet lined up their gen 1 Rocket three 6 pots to see if they'll fit the bird with its 10mm smaller discs - they looked fine so I bought some.

I had to get longer lines made up but the stock 19mm master cylinder is fine.

Had a hell of a job bleeding them and they still have some air. The bike definitely has more braking power and the (count 'em!) 6 pads per caliper aren't bedded in yet - the only thing stopping two finger braking now is lever travel, probably partly air and partly just how it is! Time for some adjustable levers to get them away from the bars some more (recommendations welcome.)

The piccy doesn't do them justice – the engineering is beautiful.

PS forgot to say I put Hagon progressive fork springs in at the same time - hope to soften the first couple of inches of travel to get the weight transfer working for me with the better brakes - I must say, it feels much better over speed humps etc. Less crashy but still under control. 10W synthetic fluid 120mm air gap.

The fluid I took out was totally different from fork to fork - must have had an oil seal done under warranty (I bought it 12 months old from a Triumph dealer with a full Triumph service history) and perhaps used whatever fluid they had to hand!

that is great news, why are they so hard to bleed? did you try taking the caliper off its mount and putting something in between the pads
and move the caliper around will bleeding.
i had a search for them but couldn't find anything
could you post a link, what did they set you back?

Bleed wise I think the new pistons were so tight they moved back with the seals, yes, I used a piece of wood between the pads - I ended up raising the calipers above the master cylinder and sucking the fluid through with a fluid extractor, then bleeding in a conventional way.

Link They were about £750 If I remember rightly - the anodised finish is extra but is necessary if you intend to use the bike on winter roads.

Sure, will report as soon as eveything's bedded in and bled properly. Being that it's coming into winter I would normally have swapped over to my MT-10 by now (ABS and TC!) but I want to persevere getting Trumpy's brakes right.
